Just two days after the horrific attack at Bondi Junction shook the nation, another stabbing has occurred at a church in Sydney’s west.

At about 7pm on Monday evening, Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel was frantically stabbed in the face and body by a man in black while delivering mass to the Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley.

At the time of publication, the attacker is reportedly still in the church, where horrified members have refused to let him leave.

Extreme unrest has ensued.

Hundreds have gathered in protest, throwing bottles and bricks at a police barrier.

Chants of “an eye for an eye” could be heard.

As the sermon was being streamed online, disturbing footage of the attack has been circulating online.

The bishop was due to give an Assyrian Bible preaching.

Early reports say at least four others were also stabbed following the attack on the bishop.

Police released a statement this evening saying, “The injured people suffered non-life threatening injuries and are being treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.”

“The community is urged to avoid the area,” it continued.

Chaos and unrest continues.
