Norwegian born Sàmi photographer, Simen Johan will release a new hardbook book in March, featuring a collection of works showcasing his unique digitally enhanced photographs of animals, landscapes and thematic narratives.

Johan, who moved to New York in 1992, was at the vanguard of digital photographic editing, employing innovative techniques as early as the 1990s. Using the latest technologies together with traditional dark room methods, Johan created images that have elements of realism, mythology, and cyberism.

In his early work, Johan manipulated fragments of body and facial images to form new characters. His groundbreaking techniques along with a distinct, esoteric style, gained him attention and plaudits, and he was soon exhibiting in esteemed galleries.

Later he turned his attention to nature, travelling all over the globe, and photographing animals and landscapes, from the extreme to the banal, then rendering the photos into his signature digitally manipulated art.

Simen Johan by Simen Johan includes an introduction by renowned photographer, Hugo Fortin and dozens of beautifully reproduced images.
