Smooth move for popular op shop

After having its main premises damaged by an electrical fire in the run-up to Christmas, the new year has brought some good news for the Cat Protection Society of NSW, with the opening of their new op shop at 85 Enmore Road, Newtown, on January 15.

“Items are all donated to us, with the majority coming from supporters and members,” said President of the Society, Rhonda House. “The op shop is staffed by volunteers, so after we’ve paid the rent and basic costs like electricity, all profits go to our work caring for cats.

“Cat Protection cares for thousands of cats and kittens every year. The op shop is a vital part of that – around 10 per cent of our operating costs are met by profits from it.”

The shop has twice won a ‘Best of Sydney’ award for its Op Shop, which stocks a range of goods from vintage to contemporary clothes, decorative items, kitchenware, toys and books.

The Cat Protection Society of NSW has been caring for cats since 1958. Located at 103 Enmore Road, it provides a shelter and re-homing facility, as well as desexing, microchipping, feline health, behaviour and welfare advice services.
