Sip Sherry by the Shore

Sip Sherry by the Shore

According to Sir Alexander Fleming: ‘If penicillin can cure those that are ill, Spanish sherry can bring the dead back to life.‘ So if you’re in need of a little oral resuscitation, let Chef Brian Villahermosa from Catalonia tempt you with an authentic five course Spanish dinner with matching sherry and Spanish varietals on the 13th and 14th of October 2008. In honour of National Spain Day, the modest sum of $80 / head will get you a tasting menu that combines classic Spanish flavours and fresh Australian produce with dishes like wagyu bresaola with truffled celeriac remoulade and poached egg.

If you’ve ever rejected Sherry as being too sweet and pungent, this is your chance to see it as a versatile and ideal accompaniment for Spanish food. A sip of ‘La Goya‘, a dry manzanilla sherry or a slurp of ‘Cardenal Cisternos Pedro Ximenez‘ selected to complement courses like a confit of ocean trout with Russian salad and dried olives, might be just the ticket to opening up to a whole new section of the wine list!

To book your spot at the dinner, held on Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th October at 7pm, call (02) 9922 4215. Catalonia is located at Shop 2, 31A Fitzroy St in Kirribilli. Watch this section for a review of their regular menu in coming weeks.
