SALT MEATS CHEESE

SALT MEATS CHEESE

For any food-lovers out there, wholesale markets like Salt Meats Cheese in Alexandria was already close to paradise: a celebration of world foods, from freshly made squid ink linguini (that you may actually watch being made) and a fill-your-own-bottle selection of olive oils, to merlot-infused sea salt. Who would have thought that there was any room for improvement? Yet these guys have managed to up the ante with their Thursday late nights.

Accompanied by a live DJ set, a complimentary drink, and pasta, deli and dessert tastings, Salts Meats Cheese have launched their first event with the Head On photography exhibition in the premises, aptly displaying Monica Buscarino’s series Thirsty. Whether or not the connection between the Italian photographer and the choice of location is explicit, it is a pleasure to wander down the corridors of this warehouse having the luxury of music, wine, free home made food and art all in one. Although the space, in its enormity, does not quite allow Buscarino’s emotive photographs to speak for themselves, the overall experience is worth it. (HP)
