
Princess of Norway To Study At University of Sydney

The future queen of Norway is heading to Australia to begin her studies at the University of Sydney.
Princess Ingrid Alexandra will be making the move to study a Bachelor of Arts beginning in in August.
“She has chosen a three-year degree with a focus on international relations and political economy,” a royal house of Norway spokesperson said in a statement.
“The princess will be studying full-time and reside in a student residence on campus.
“Her royal highness looks forward to dedicating herself to her studies in the years to come.”
University of Sydney’s vice-president Kirsten Andrews told Norwegian broadcaster NRK yesterday: “We’re very glad that Her Royal Highness Princess Ingrid Alexandra has chosen to study at the University of Sydney. University officials look forward to welcoming her and helping her get acquainted with university life and her studies.”
How far is the princess from the throne?
Alexandra is the eldest child of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit and the grandchild of Harald V, the currently reigning King of Norway.
She is the second in line to the throne, after her father, and will be the first queen regnant of Norway in more than 600 years.
The 21-year-old’s move comes only months after her military graduation, which saw her complete 15 months of military service with the Engineer Battalion in Brigade North.
She held the position of combat engineer soldier and served as a gunner on a CV90 armoured vehicle.
Alexandra will be living at St Andrew’s College, with principal Dr Daniel Tyler confirming the news in an email to students, as per the Daily Mail.
“I am pleased to let you know she will be joining ’Drews and living on site. I know she is looking forward to integrating into College and university life.” he wrote.
“There may be media interest and enquiries. Please join us in respecting her privacy. We will share reminders about security on the College site ahead of Semester 2.”
