A man has been rescued by police after he was allegedly kidnapped and held for ransom in a home in Belmore for several days, where he was subjected to torture. Six people have been charged in connection with the crime, NSW Police reported today.

The man was allegedly taken from a home in Smithfield in Sydney’s West, where a group of armed offenders forced entry into the building at around 5:20 am last Thursday (9 March 2023).

The victim, a 26-year-old man, was abducted and forced into a vehicle, prompting police to be notified shortly after the men fled the scene. He was allegedly held captive in the Belmore home for five days, where several of his teeth were pulled out by his captors.

Following extensive investigations, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, with assistance from the Fairfield City Police Area Command, commenced Strike Force Kkuoa. Acting on intelligence, Tactical Operations Unit officers forced entry to a home in Belmore at around 5:15 pm on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old man was located inside the home and was assessed by paramedics before being taken to hospital for further treatment. Police report the man is currently in a stable condition.
