Temptingly cheap seafood opposite a sandy harbour beach is quite a drawcard, particularly in a locale better known for higher prices. Revel in the fresh sea breeze shaded by an umbrella at an al fresco table while you choose from a reasonable menu supplemented with a good list of specials. To start, you could do much worse than a dozen natural Oysters ($21) delivered fresh from a Hawkesbury wholesaler. The BBQ Seafood ($27) is a heaving plate of seafood that eliminates the need for an entree by placing natural oysters, fresh prawns, barbequed prawns, calamari, octopus and plump, well cooked mussels with a salmon fillet, chips and a bowl of side salad ‘ most would struggle to finish it. Team some excellent paddock produce with the fruits of the sea in the Garlic Surf and Turf ($23) which gets you a lovely steak with garlic prawns and your choice of chips and salad, or vegetables and mash. Wrap things up with a credible Crème Brûlée ($7.50) dished up with ice cream and chocolate dipped strawberries, at a rather incredible price. My own fears about parking on a Sunday proved unfounded, with free two hour spaces available right out the front. Work off any excess calories by hiring a kayak on the beach!
