No more Millers Point evictions

NSW Minister for Housing Frank Terenzini said no Millers Point public housing tenants will be evicted for the State Government’s 99-year lease sales.

The minister agreed to review sales of public housing and investigate occupying public homes.

The agreement occurred after MP and Sydney City Lord Mayor Clover Moore took tenants to confront the Minister about the sales.

She said all housing must be retained if Sustainable Sydney 2030 targets of 15 per cent affordable and social housing are to be met.

She said it’s vital low cost housing is close to health and welfare services, transport and jobs.

In July the Minister for Housing said the Government would sell 20 more 99-year leases on properties in the area.
