The City of Sydney has promised that the 2024 New Year’s Eve fireworks are set to be the “biggest spectacular yet” with a range of new innovations that’ll make the night one to remember.
With 80 new firing positions lined up across the Harbour Bridge, aerial pyrotechnic displays between the Bridge and the Opera House and an estimated 600 pyrotechnic effects to make this year’s display dazzle. Not only will it be flashier, but it’ll provide more visibility no matter where in Sydney you are to see the fireworks.
This comes after disputes between the Rail, Tram & Bus Union and the NSW Government, where the New Year’s Eve fireworks were potentially set to be cancelled. However, an agreement was reached between the Union and the Government, with planned disruption rescinded.
The event is being spearheaded by Foti International Fireworks, who have thus far put over 4,500 hours into preparing for the evening. FIF’s director, Fortunato Foti, spoke to their approach in creating fireworks: “We’re always looking at how we can evolve our show and believe this will be one of the most innovative New Year’s Eve displays in the world.
“Not only do we have more fireworks than ever before, we’re extremely excited to introduce the aerial platforms concept – the first time this has been done in Australian fireworks history,” he continued. “No matter where you are around the harbour, you’re in for a great show!”
Both the 9pm and midnight firework displays will be set to synchronised soundtracks, with the 9pm display scored by ARIA-winning rapper and producer Nooky, while the midnight soundtrack is composed by Luna Pan.
With tens of thousands of fireworks set to go off on the night in a huge display, the City of Sydney is strongly recommending that Sydneysiders plan ahead extensively before the 31st. For more information, visit https://www.sydneynewyearseve.com.
