MyZone to start on Sunday

With only days before the official start of MyZone, Transport Minister David Campbell has urged commuters to pre-purchase their tickets in-order to avoid expected delays.

“MyZone begins on Sunday, April 18 and this week is the time for those who can pre-purchase their tickets to start thinking about getting in early,” Mr Campbell said.

“While the process of purchasing a ticket will stay the same for most people, we would still expect that it might take a little longer on the first mornings and I encourage people to take that into consideration.

According to the Opposition, commuters will be faced with lengthy delays and longer travel times once the new plan is introduced

“Bus drivers will be forced to mark or date stamp tickets because the State Labor Government has failed to install machines to validate the MyZone tickets on private buses,” Shadow Minister for Transport Gladys Berejiklian said.

“Private bus commuters will be furious that from April 18 it will take even longer to board the bus than it does already, and that their journey to and from work each day will take them longer.

MyBus, MyFerry and MyMulti MyZone tickets can be purchased at selected official resellers now and normal transport ticket offices and vending machines from 18 April 2010. MyTrain tickets will be available from April 18.
