Marcus Obermeder: Liberal candidate for Waverley ward

Born in Australia, Marcus lives with his wife Sally in Wellington Street, Bondi.
He has an extensive background in banking and finance and has worked as senior manager at the National Australia Bank. He now runs his own finance broking business in Bondi Junction.
He is chair of the Penkivil Precinct and president of the Ocean Street Development Opposition Association, a group of residents lobbying against The Benevolent Society development proposal for the Scarba House heritage site recently lodged with Council. He is concerned about the lack of ‘quality residential care’ in the over-55s complex, impacts on neighbours, on-street parking and traffic congestion in local streets.
Marcus believes the social and age mix of residents contributes to the village atmosphere of the Ocean/Wellington Street area. Committed to the residents of Waverley, he believes Council should work to ensure people of all ages continue to enjoy living together.
He is a swimming member of the Bondi Icebergs, surfs, jogs and goes to the gym regularly, and enjoys chess, cards and classic movies.
