Malaysian man murdered in Leichhardt

Police from the Leichhardt Local Area Command have appealed for public assistance following the stabbing of a man shortly before midnight on Sunday, February 21.

The body of a 43-year-old Malaysian man, suffering multiple stab wounds, was located outside his home on the corner of Cromwell and Marion Streets. Two men, described as wearing dark clothing and one featuring dark, curly hair, were reported to be seen running down Cromwell Street after the stabbing. It is understood they escaped the crime scene in a dark-coloured sedan.

Investigators confirmed they were examining several lines of inquiry, including the possibility the attack stemmed from a road rage incident moments earlier.

The victim worked as a driver for the Malaysian Consulate. He immigrated to Australia three years ago and had recently become a citizen.

Investigations into the attack continue. Investigators are appealing for anyone with any information to contact Leichhardt Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
