LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Dear Editor,
Former Legislative Council President and Mayoral aspirant Meredith Burgmann has been around ever since Captain Cook sailed up the coast all those long years ago.
Sadly, Meredith Burgmann does not understand that everything and everybody has a “use by” date.

The milk eventually goes off in your refrigerator if it is left there for too long.

Sydney Lord Mayor and State Member, Clover Moore is doing a very good job in both her roles.

She compliments both positions. I believe she personally compliments the City of Sydney.

As a prominent gay rights activist I can categorically state that Clover Moore is the only lady for our city and the only Member of Parliament who has the courage to stand up and fight for the rights of her homosexual constituents.

Clover Moore has done more for the rights of her homosexual constituency then any Labor Party stooge playing family charades in attempt to gain control of Town Hall.

I doubt if the “first family ladies” adorning your front page of The City News could catch the greasy pig at the local country radio let alone knock off the great Clover Moore and take possession of her Mayoral robe.

Regards,
Gary Burns
Gay Rights Activist

Dear Sir,
I read your article about Verity Firth and Meredith Burgmann (Labor’s leading ladies, May 3) with interest. I too come from Glebe and totally agree with them that our part of Glebe is neglected by Clover Moore.

Recently she produced a fact sheet on personal safety to help those of us dealing with the current crime wave in Glebe, but has spent very little of the City of Sydney’s huge funds on recreation schemes for the youth in the area.

The Glebe Estate, which is mainly Housing Department tenants, does not vote for Clover and so Clover tends to ignore them. Even getting the back lanes clear of rubbish seems too hard.

Clover’s support of a congestion tax worries me because already my part of Glebe is used as a parking lot during the day for people going into the city and a Congestion Tax would just make that worse.

I’m just concerned that Lord Mayor Clover has a conflict of interest when she deals with Glebe because she is not also the local member for this area.

Yours sincerely,
H. Randerson
Glebe resident
