Let’s do the Time Warp Again
Waverley has always been home to poets, musos and arty types. The iconic Bondi Pavilion is home to the Bondi Youth Wave, a proud Sydney music scene institution that began in 1985 as a means of giving a leg up to young musicians. Many young people benefited from this course and tuition in the intricacies of the music business.
I was lucky to be part of the very first Youth Wave in 1985 and the experience has never left me. I treasure the memory of those weeks of learning, writing, performing and recording.
So I hope these words reach others who were also there as I’m hoping to find artifacts from that first Youth Wave. Unfortunately, I have very little but I know lots of photos were taken at the time as well as newspaper articles and at least one live recording of the showcase.
