Leichhardt welcomes Enviro Expo

For children and parents, the phrase ‘school holidays’ can mean different things. For the former, it’s invariably a well-earned break. For the latter, the potential is there to be anything but…

But for inner west parents, a degree of respite is at hand. MarketPlace Leichhardt is attempting to help resolve the endless dilemma of how to keep youngsters entertained with their free ‘Enviro Expo’, running throughout the first week of the school holidays.

“Sustainable living is important for the whole community,” said Michèle Brett, Centre Manager at MarketPlace Leichhardt. “Our Enviro Expo program tries to provide families with ideas and inspiration as to how they can tread more lightly on the Earth.”

The events aim to teach children to be environmentally-friendly in an “engaging, colourful and interactive way”, through a program featuring eco workshops, live shows (including a circus group), roving performers, community programs and a childrens’ art exhibition.
