The eponymous Tiger is Robbie Farah, captain of the Wests Tigers team, so be prepared for some carb-loading, multi-layered meals. What I like to call surf-and-football-turf food. Barramundi, steaks, pizzas and pastas are their realm but go for mains with tiger prawns, they place them on top like icing on the so-called cake. A must is their Tiger Schnitzel ($27.50). It’s stacked with fries, has two layers of schnitzel and is crowned with succulent tiger prawns, peppercorns and a creamy, brandy-based sauce. Everything is homemade on the premises; we can even hear the schnitzel being hammered from our table. Co-owner ‘Lucky’ tells me that the food is so authentically Italian, he even gets the ‘okay from Nonna’.  The Pollo Pesto Pizza ($17.50) is a combination of flavours that somehow works, even if you do feel like you’re eating for the grand final. Eggplant, chicken, salami, pesto, and fetta all topped with mozzarella.  All in all, it’s not pretty food, but it’s not meathead food either. Their Bruschetta ($6) is delicate and fresh with crusty Italian bread. And their famous Tiramisu ($9.50), served in an old-fashioned sundae glass with strawberries and a dusting of icing sugar, shows that these (Nonna’s) boys have heart as well as stamina.
