KID’S EVENT: WE BUILT THIS CITY
The Sydney Opera House Forecourt is set to be taken over by pint-sized builders this October long weekend when We Built This City comes to Sydney. This creation from Polyglot Puppet Theatre is a proven hit with the kids. Erin, aged 10 says “amazing fun, I want to go there all the time.“ Across four days, children and families will create a fantasy city made entirely from thousands of cardboard boxes. Polyglot cardboard construction experts will wander through the cardboard city assisting with building challenges, mending broken boxes, clearing roads and making the sessions enjoyable for kids and their parents.
The two-and-a-half hour sessions are open to the general public and everyone is encouraged to be involved. There will be a resident DJ to complete the experience with some funky tunes to help with construction. At the end of the session the kids will knock down the city they’ve built before the next group sets out to build their vision. We Built This City has featured in Melbourne’s International Arts Festival, Perth’s Awesome Festival and Brisbane Powerhouse, and now it’s Sydney’s turn.
