As a resident of City Quarter on Booth Street, I am horrified at what
the City of Sydney Council is about to do to Orphan School Creek Gully.
We were promised a regenerated bush-land habitat, so it would have lots
of trees to house a variety of birds and wildlife, and with a
playground for children. Now that is being eroded by putting in a three-metre-wide switchback path through the middle and less trees.
The Council had detailed plans, which have now changed, with no
consultation with surrounding residents, and at a meeting at the
Council last Monday 16th, Lord Mayor Clover Moore cast her vote
against the wishes of the Glebe community, rather than trying to
negotiate a compromise.
Please Lord Mayor, listen to the locals, and go back to the original
plans, or at least go with their compromise.
