George St worst for pedestrian safety

George Street has been responsible for more crashes involving pedestrians than any other road in Sydney’s CBD.
Thirty-three accidents along the street between Ultimo and The Rocks were reported over the last year.
“Although the number of pedestrians injured is generally decreasing each year, there were four people killed and 342 injured in the City of Sydney last financial year which is still too many,” Council CEO Monica Barone said.
Oxford Street was the second worst with a total of 20 incidents, follow by Elizabeth Street (17), Pitt Street (17), Goulburn Street (11), Clevland Street (9), Druitt Street (9), William Street (9), Castlereagh Street (8) and Clarence Street (8).
According to City of Sydney data, most accidents occurred near major railway stations and happened between 3pm and 6pm.
It was found that young male and female pedestrians, aged between 16 to 25, accounted for almost half of the recorded casualties.
