Foodies’ Diary
Breakfast for Bust(s)
If you fancy some salmon bagels, French toast with strawberries and bacon, egg cups and a pink themed beverage for breakfast on Tuesday 6th October, trot along to Jacksons on George between 8am-9.30am. They’ll be turning the place pink for the day, with attendees being spoilt with canapés, cocktails, a gift bag and the knowledge that their hard earned cash will go to the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation. For The Love of Seafood Festival
Gather the family and trot on down to the Sydney Fish Markets for a FREE day of fishy fun on Saturday, 31 October, 11am – 3pm. Retail stalls will serve up seafood meals; local fishing identities, cookbook authors and renowned chefs will be on hand to dish up new ideas to make cooking with fish fun! A little healthy competition will keep it lively with Sydney’s top chefs battling a ‘mystery bag’ of ingredients to be crowned the ‘King/Queen of the Sea’. Eliminate any parking hassles by catching the Metro Light Rail. More info: www.sydneyfishmarket.com.au
Spring into Sepia
High on my current dining to-do list is Chef Martin Benn’s Queensland Spanner Crab and Buckwheat Risotto at Sepia. It seems I’m not the only one keen to try his seven course Spring Tasting Menu – due to popular demand they’ll now be opening on Saturdays from the 12th September. Reservations are essential for the $130/head menu ($190/head with matched wines).
