A fire that broke out early on Wednesday morning at famous YouTuber Friendlyjordies’ eastern suburbs home is being treated as suspected arson. At around 12:30am on Wednesday November 23 the home on Wilga Street in Bondi reportedly went ablaze.

Lawfirm Xenophon Davis said in social media post that the YouTuber’s home was “firebombed”, however no cause has been confirmed by police as of yet.

“We hope that every possible police resource is dedicated today to securing evidence and intel” the post reads.

Jordan Shanks-Markovina hosts a YouTube channel with 627,000 subscribers, and lives at the back of the property. Neighbours and residents evacuated their homes to escape the fire and smoke, however it’s reported that Shanks-Markovina was not home when the fire broke out.

Fire being investigated for arson

Police are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire. They say the blaze could be related to another fire started on Thursday November 17.

Specialist forensic police and specially trained dogs will be investigating the cause of the fire during the review.

Fire and Rescue NSW told the Sydney Morning Herald that “significant damage” was caused to the structure of the building.

Anyone who witnessed suspicious behaviour or has information on the fire is urged to contact crime-stoppers at 1-800-333-000.
