With summer on our heels we are busy sussing out line-ups for the plethora of music festivals we’ll be hit with. We are thinking about all tomorrow’s parties, so to speak. And you should be too ‘ because All Tomorrow’s Parties is sure to be one of the most riveting and memorable events of the season.

Going against big commercial music festivals, this is one that started in the UK and takes place all around the world with a premise of inviting an important artist or band to headline alongside their favourite performers, handpicked by them.

On the historical and picturesque site of Cockatoo Island, Sydney’s next All Tomorrow’s Parties will be headlined and curated by none other than Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds. One of the most significant and unique bands of the last 20 years, they will bring their intimate knowledge of Australian and international music to create an eclectic line up spanning 40 years of music.

So far they’ve confirmed appearances from the following: The Saints (with original members Chris Bailey, Ivor Hay and Ed Kuepper), Spiritualized, James ‘Blood’ Ulmer, Silver Apples, Fuck Buttons, Harmonia, Michael Gira, Laughing Clowns, Robert Forster, Bridezilla and The Necks. As part of the 2009 Sydney Festival, the rest of the All Tomorrow’s Parties line-up will be announced this week along with the full festival program. Be ready to be excited.
