Family fun in Leichhardt

Leichhardt Council is putting on a range of family-friendly activities over the next few weeks, with something for all ages and interests.

A particular highlight during February will be the screening of free outdoor films in various neighbourhood parks within the Leichhardt Local Government Area.

Each evening commences at sunset with a screening of ‘Flickerkids’ – a program of short films for kids, presented by Flickerfest 2011 – followed by a full-length feature film. The playbill includes Toy Story 3, 500 Days of Summer, the cult classic Edward Scissorhands, and the 2010 blockbuster Inception.

Meanwhile, families can enjoy a tour of the White’s Creek Wetland in Annandale on January 29.

A part of Sydney Coastal Council’s ‘Summerama’ festival, tours are suitable for adults and children and run for about an hour. Participants can look for turtles, dragonflies and frogs, as they experience the beauty of Leichhardt’s own wetlands.

Tours are free but bookings are essential. To book a space, email envirobooking@lmc.nsw.gov.au, or phone 9367 9220.
