EVENT: WORDS ETC.

EVENT: WORDS ETC.

The Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation has launched a new series of talks and events celebrating all things wordy, be they spoken or written. Called Words etc., the intriguing program for literature lovers is complemented by a wall installation designed by Sydney architect Chris Bosse, displaying the gallery’s substantial collection of small press, high quality publications. With a focus on non-fiction and artist titles, this curated bibliotheca is an intimate and inviting space for book boffins to explore.

This week’s special event is the launch of The Lost Mother: A Story of Art and Love, by bestselling author and columnist Anne Summers (of Damned Whores and God’s Police fame). An interesting mixture of art history, detective story and reflections on relations between mothers and daughters, The Lost Mother recounts the story of Summers’ search for a painting of her mother by the Australian artist Constance Stokes, which will be on show at the launch.

Launch night: July 16th, 6-8 pm, Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation, 16-20 Goodhope Street, Paddington, sherman-scaf.org.au
