EVENT: SPAA FRINGE

Filmmakers and aficionados are positively reeling as they commence the countdown to the SPAA Fringe. The forum is presented by the Screen Producers Association of Australia and will encourage participants to innovate, gain knowledge and most importantly, be inspired.

“At Fringe we bring together lots of different people with the objective of inspiring innovative media content that will sustain long term careers in the screen industry,” says Gaylee Butler, curator of SPAA Fringe.

The forum combines workshops, roundtables, one-on-one sessions, film screenings and social networking events, covering diverse topics like: legal information; pitching strategies; scheduling and budgeting; and marketing and distribution.

Offering a meeting of minds of aspiring and established moviemakers, plus TV executives and other industry professionals; notable presenters include: Anthony Watt (TV Producer- Spicks and Specks and Full Frontal), Courtney Gibson (Executive Head of Content Creation at the ABC) and Academy award winner, Melanie Coombs (Producer- Mary and Max, Harvie Krumpet).

“SPAA Fringe is the place where the disconnected can connect. It allows out-there film projects and their filmmakers to come in from the cold and learn about the mainstream industry in a lively and challenging way that’s not about compromising their creativity,” says Geoff Brown, Executive Director, SPAA.
