Double-standard DA

Double-standard DA

The changes to the Orphan School Creek wildlife habitat plan by the City of Sydney are breathtaking. After the community consultation process and DA was approved, Council suddenly add a 130-metre concrete path right through a planned forest which wasn’t on the DA! Over 400 residents have now signed petitions or attended protest rallies about this dreadful change.

Can you imagine what would happen if residents made comparable changes to residential DAs? You can’t put an extra window in without a DA, but the City of Sydney thinks it can drop a 130 metre zig-zag path through a planned habitat area and nobody is going to be outraged.

It looks like there are two rules, one for resident’s development applications and a separate one for Clover Moore’s Council.
