Detectives charge man with the death of Wilson Duque Castillo

Police have charged a man with the manslaughter of Sydney man Wilson Durque Castillo, who allegedly suffered fatal head injuries following an altercation outside a Kings Cross nightclubt.

Mr Castillo’s family made the tragic choice to take him off life support on January 3 after the 33-year-old was fatally injured in a brawl after being chased by security officers along Bayswater Road to Darlinghurst Road.

It is alleged the argument was a result of the men being refused entry to the Bayswater Road hotel after which one of the men attacked security.

It will be alleged Mr Castillo was bashed, resulting in significant head injuries. At a rally in Kings Cross last month protesters chanted “calm down” in reference to the last known words of Mr Castillo.

On Monday detectives arrested a 35-year-old man at a Westmead house and took him to Parramatta Police Station where he was later charged with manslaughter.

The court case is ongoing.
