What do Rockpool, Aria and the Boathouse at Blackwattle Bay have in common? Very little actually, except they’re all serving the 2008 Farago Hill Pinot Gris on their wine lists. After trying it last week, I can see why; and it’s not just because it’s got a blush pink hue. I am a definite fan of pinks though – the 2007 Carlei Pinot Gris was also a favourite.
It’s currently way underpriced at Vaucluse Cellars, at only $19.90, or you can order online from www.faragohill.com. As for what I’m drinking it with – well, to be truthful, absolutely nothing at all. It’s got minerality, a bit of sweetness, and a smidgen of heat from the high alcohol. It’s smooth and bright enough for a soft winter’s eve. Also good with uh… food.
