The 2011 Residents Assocation strongly supports small community buses servicing the public transport needs of Elizabeth Bay residents after the 311 bus is cut back. We are happy that Clover Moore has adopted our call for this in the last few months.
Although the community didn’t succeed in keeping the entire 311 route, despite intense lobbying by locals and Ms Moore, the end result is much better than the original proposal – a testament to the local community’s effort.
The next step is that the State Government and/or City of Sydney introduce small community buses to Elizabeth Bay and possibly the wider area. Interestingly, The City News reported that the City’s operational surplus has grown to more than $50 million.
