A whole bunch of street festivals are set to return to Sydney from 1 November til 28 March, 2026, as a part of the Sydney Streets series.

Sydney Streets is a City of Sydney initiative, which turns streets usually busy with traffic into bustling neighbourhood street markets for the day.

“The Sydney Streets series has been pivotal in encouraging businesses and communities to collaborate and bring local neighbourhoods and precincts to life,” said Lord Mayor Clover Moore.

“Earlier this year, we permanently waived application and licence fees for outdoor dining, valued at more than $2 million each year.”

How the Sydney Streets series came about

In the aftermath of COVID-19, the City of Sydney launched an outdoor dining program called Summer Streets to encourage the community to engage with local businesses and neighborhoods. It was a four-week-long festival that also featured road closures for outdoor dining.

The program evolved into Sydney Streets, launching with its first festival in October 2022 as part of a community recovery plan. The aim was to support local businesses that had been financially impacted.

The street festivals feature performances, family-friendly entertainment, food, and stalls from local businesses. Some of the entertainers scheduled to appear include Alice Terry, Mia Lovelock, Band of Gold, and DJ Mimi, along with a dance lesson led by Darrio Phillips. Activities such as tarot readings, face painting, and more are also planned to be available. The festivals celebrate the neighborhoods of Potts Point, Glebe, Redfern, and Darlinghurst in Sydney.
