CCTV footage of Pitt Street break and enter released

NSW Police have released CCTV footage to appeal for further information into an alleged break and enter in a Pitt Street pharmacy earlier this month.
Just after midnight on March 3, a man allegedly forced entry through a fire escape of a pharmacy on Pitt Street in Sydney’s central business district and stayed inside the pharmacy for almost 90 minutes, allegedly stealing two safes containing prescription medication and over $7000 in cash.
Police believe the man depicted in the CCTV footage, who is described as a male wearing a hi-vis yellow t-shirt worn over a long black sleeve jumper and a black cap, may be able to assist with inquiries and has called on the public to provide assistance with the investigation.
The man is also shown carrying a plastic bag and a black backpack with white vertical lines down the middle, which looks to have the Adidas branding on it. He was also wearing navy blue jeans and black shoes in the footage.
Anyone with information about the break and enter is asked to contact Day Street Police Station or Crime Stoppers. Footage and stills from the incident can be found on NSW Police’s social media pages.
Pitt Street break and enter follows alleged hate crimes in Castlereagh Street
Two Sydney teens were last month charged with assault in an incident at Castlereagh Street that police were treating as hate crimes.
On the evening of February 6, a 19-year-old man and two women were walking in Haymarket when a black Volkswagen pulled over nearby, and one of the vehicle’s occupants threatened the man before another male passenger got out of the car and punched him in the head.
A police spokesperson said that the alleged believed that the man was gay and that police believed the incident was linked to another assault earlier that day.
The injured man was kicked after already being knocked to the ground from the initial punch before the vehicle drove away.
Following investigations, a 17 and 16-year-old boy were arrested in connection with the assaults and were both charged with affray and assault causing actual bodily harm.
