Casino withdraws outdoor gaming application

Star City Casino has withdrawn a development application with City of Sydney Council for an outdoor gaming area.
Plans for a major redevelopment and refurbishment of the Pyrmont site is before the NSW Planning Department and is expected to go on public exhibition later this month.
A spokesman for Star City confirmed the casino had withdrawn the application for an outdoor gaming area and is examining its options.
?Our patrons have been asking us to set up an outdoor gaming area similar to those which have become standard in most hotels and clubs,? the spokesperson said.
?We currently have a proposal before the Department of Planning to expand and redevelop Star City. But we won’t be in a position to discuss those plans until they go on public display.?
He said the casino hoped to place the proposal on exhibition some time in August.
Star City applied to have the Council application fee refunded but this was declined on the grounds that Council staff had spent considerable time examining the application.
A City of Sydney Council spokesperson said applicants that withdraw DAs are usually entitled to a partial refund.
