I’ve always enjoyed dining at this restaurant’s al fresco tables, which protect diners from the elements and lift you up from the noise of Norton Street without totally losing the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the vibrant dining precinct. In the past I have enjoyed the odd Strawberry Martini ($12), fluffy, gentle Whitebait and Pumpkin Fritters ($18) and a great Ravioli of Roast Duck and Mushroom ($24 entree/$29 main). On my most recent visit I checked out a recession busting special Pizze e Birre where for twenty dollars a head it’s all the gourmet Italian wood-fired pizzas you can eat with an alcoholic drink! This special is available for lunch and dinner each night, excluding Saturday. Depending on how complex you like your toppings, I liked both the Capri (normally $21) resplendent with garlic prawns, Taleggio, red onion, fire roasted capsicum and spinach; and the Mediterranea (normally $21) with mushrooms, prosciutto and rocket. The more friends you take along, the more of the range you’ll be able to try, so hurry on in before the special ends. For a splash of colour, sample one of the new Apple and Rosewater Margaritas ($14.50) made with lovely house-made rosewater; just stir before you drink it.
