Image: I’ve seen this place grow and evolve over the years. The décor has the tapestry of a globetrotting backpacker (with flags to match). The food is of a similar nature, layers of cuisines in super-sized servings, like the American Style BBQ Ribs ($22.90) – USA in both flavour and size.

I’ve seen this place grow and evolve over the years. The décor has the tapestry of a globetrotting backpacker (with flags to match). The food is of a similar nature, layers of cuisines in super-sized servings, like the American Style BBQ Ribs ($22.90) – USA in both flavour and size. I especially enjoyed the sticky BBQ sauce drizzling onto the Aussie-style chips with chicken salt. The Frangelico Caprioska ($16) oddly has cranberry juice in it, but follows suit – it’s the size of a truck-stop gulp cup. Maybe it’s the Jack Daniels artwork on the walls but I wanted to start a game of beer-pong after this. Instead I settled for Tandoori Chicken Skewers ($24.90) – juicy, mammoth and served with Turkish bread and hummus. Like I said, it’s a patchwork quilt, but this adds to the charm. Somehow the Vegetable Risotto ($18.90) sticks to its roots, with eggplant, pumpkin, zucchini, olives, artichokes and cashew nuts. Served with garlic bread it’s humble, but satisfying. Their coffee is superb in a Latte ($3.50) proving they’ve made the crossover from café to bar without compromise. With more deals than a closing down carpet sale, this is a student’s paradise; or a nostalgic step back in time for working graduates.
