Prepare for a tale of two visits – our office jury is hung. Both my colleague and I attended this balcony venue separately last week. We agreed it’s fabulously outfitted in Queensland hardwood, with an earthy South of the Border feel. We both lapped up the commanding view; but only he was impressed by the food: “Ah the joys of being vegetarian. On a quiet Tuesday night, with a light breeze and one other table for company, we enjoyed the very tasty Sweet Corn Fritters with Tomato Chutney ($13) – crispy and flavoursome – along with the Eggplant Stuffed with Zucchini, Goats Cheese, Mint, Onions and Garlic with a Tomato and Basil Sauce ($15). Portion sizes were moderate but the company was great!” During my own visit, I enjoyed the beef patties but bemoaned absent buns on the Mini Burgers with Red Onion Chutney ($12); searched for seasoning on the Pomegranate Glazed Sirloin with Walnut Tabouli ($17); and craved moisture in the Crispy Pork Belly in Thai Caramel ($16) with (pickled) baby squid. I soothed my parched palate with an El Mariachi ($16) with fresh cinnamon bark. My calories were kept up with an equally good Mad Cow ($16), a creamy concoction featuring vanilla liqueur.
