Bondi girls win four national titles in a row

Bondi scored an unprecedented fourth consecutive win in the women’s open five-person rescue and resuscitation (R&R) event at the recent Australian Surf Life Saving Championships at Scarborough beach in Perth.

The team, consisting of Louise Santos (patient), Kylie Miller (belt), Shea De Lorenzo and Jennifer McMillan (line), and Jann Ashley (reel), is coached by Andrew McEnroe.

They drilled a deduction of 2.52 points from the judges to win the event from Victoria’s Ocean Grove team, which had 3.88 points deducted.

Santos, Miller and Ashley have been members of all four national and state title doubles-winning teams and McMillan is a member of the past two successes.

Bondi’s only other major placing at the national titles was second by the women’s under-15 R & R team of Isabel Lord, Rebecca Koerber, Samantha Hopkins, Brynlee Owen and D’arcy Pierce, which was also instructed by McEnroe.
