BEN SALTER – THE CAT

BEN SALTER – THE CAT

Ben Salter has branched off from his large family of ten – The Gin Club – and has finally put out his long awaited debut solo album. It has only taken him ten years to do so. Salter has been likened to legends such as Neil Young and Nick Drake but upon hearing the opening track The Cat it is Josh Pyke who comes to mind. Salter’s roots are distinc,t with his accent shining through out the entire album. With a mixture of pop, rock and folk he keeps the listener interested. I’m sure a few die hard fans are listening out for their name in this album as Salter reached out to them on indiegogo.com to get his album funded. The Coward woes you with its melodic lyrics while some nice guitar licks appear on Opportunities, West End Girls and Things Fall Apart. Dividing these languish love songs are The Mailbox Song and I Am Not Ashamed, with proud rock beats, strong bass lines and good drumming. The last track leaves you feeling two ways: like you could shed a tear or put on an AC/DC album and harden up.
