Tucked away through a short underpass from City North CBD, is the secluded haven of One Six Eight. While most of the room is given over to restaurant seating for the scrumptious food of Chef Leigh McDivitt, the entrance bar area has benches and small tables that are perfect for a pre-dinner drink or a night out in itself. From the starting line-up of cocktails, our posse agreed the Yuzu Tonic (Yuzu jam, peach bitters, Belvedere vodka , tonic: $17) was the winner. For beers, local Lord Nelson Brewery Pale Ale ($9.50) gets a show in with Black Panther, Neil Stout, Pigs Fly Pilsner and award winning Hop Hog IPA ($10). The bar serves the same tight but diverse wine list as the restaurant; and of course McDivitt is also in charge of the bar food menu.
