ArtExpress hits The Rocks

The State’s budding young artists will be given an opportunity to showcase their work in the heart of the city as The Rocks hosts the annual ArtExpress exhibition for the first time ever.

46 students will have their work showcased in 26 venues around The Rocks including the Ken Duncan Gallery, The Rocks Discovery Museum, The Old Sydney Holiday Inn and the Sydney Visitor Centre.

The works represent a broad range of subject matter, approaches, styles and media including painting, photomedia, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, documented forms, textiles and fibre, ceramics, time-based forms and collections of works.

ArtExpress is an annual exhibition of chosen works created by HSC students as part of their Examination in Visual Arts.

The event has grown from a small, educational exhibition of student work in the late 1950s to becoming a major touring exhibition that is a highlight of the annual exhibition program in many parts of NSW.

During this time, ArtExpress has gained national and international reputation for its high-achieving student artwork.

The exhibition will run from February 1 to March 28. For more information or to download the ArtExpress map visit www.therocks.com.
