Alleged firebomb plot for mural

On Tuesday night police and fire fighters were called to Station Street in Newtown to investigate an alleged attempted firebombing of a local business.

Proprietor, Sergio Redegalli said activists from several local political groups, people he calls ‘The Ferals of Newtown,’ were responsible for splashing a flammable substance on the walls and footpath around his property in attempt to burn down his business.

However police believe Redegalli may be exaggerating, as an analysis of the substance by the fire department revealed it to be enamel paint.

This is the 53rd attack on Mr Redegalli’s property in the 8 months since he painted a mural urging people to ‘say no to burqas’, and locals are growing resentful of the frequent disturbances.

‘I’m sick of the impact this one person has had on my neighbourhood,’ said one local resident, ‘Visits by bikies, screaming matches, violent demonstrations, CCTV and sensor lights, along with his [Redegalli’s] inbuilt arrogance are tiring and intrusive beyond belief.’
