Alexandria’s Bunnings has competition

Bunnings Warehouse won’t be the only point of call for hardware aficionados in Alexandria, with an independent store set to move in this month.

The Hardware Store already has a strong presence with an existing store in Balmain and is setting up show only 600 metres from its competitor, Bunnings. Grant Crowle, owner of The Hardware Store, promises to give customers a different experience.

“We are easily differentiated from Bunnings by our standard of customer service, long term relationships and pricing,” says Mr Crowle.

“These attributes have underpinned the success of the Balmain store and we will be taking this approach to Alexandria. We employ local staff and support the local community.

“It’s the difference between buying your coffee in a Starbucks or a local quality coffee shop or cafe.”

Mr Crowle, who will open his store on July 6, says he’s been working closely with the Alexandria community.

“We are currently working with local schools and sporting organisations as part of our charitable giving strategy. We are also working with iManifest on upcoming fundraising activities and sponsoring a Vivid Sydney installation being created by local design company, Woods Bagot,” he says.

“We already have a firm presence in Balmain and we are very excited about this new venture of opening a much larger and diverse store in Alexandria.

“The new store is an amazing space in the heart of this popular suburb in McCauley St, Alexandria. It has office space that is being leased by architects and designers and hopes to also include a small cafe managed by the team behind The Little Marionette brand.”

The Hardware Store opening will include a sausage sizzle, face painting, and DIY advice from hardware experts.

“Customers walking through the door can expect a different experience and environment,” says Mr Crowle. “If we don’t have what they need we will source it. Make a recommendation and we will do our best to stock it.”
