Free Pool, Spa, & Steam: North Sydney Olympic Pool’s All-Access Weekend

North Sydney Olympic Pool has officially reopened after a five-year, $122 million renovation. To commemorate its opening weekend, visitors from 7 – 9 August will be able to enter the facility and enjoy its iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge views free of charge.

The weekend will not only include unfettered access to the facility’s heated 50-metre outdoor pool, famous for its gorgeous harbour views, but also its indoor lap pool, indoor program pool, and kids’ pool and splash pad.

Visitors with a more luxurious weekend in mind can also enjoy free access to the venue’s state-of-the-art gym, sundeck, spa, steam room, and sauna. Visitors will also be free to enjoy, albeit at a cost, the kiosk and gelato bar.

Alongside offering the public this unprecedented access to its refurbished facilities, North Sydney Olympic Pool will also be hosting a range of family-friendly activities and entertainment throughout the weekend.

Finally, North Sydney Olympic Pool’s Renovations Are Complete

The news comes after the complex, which first opened in 1936 and hosted swimming events during the 1938 Empire Games, was closed in February of 2021 for major redevelopment. Originally, the renovation was forecast to cost just $48 million, and was slated for completion in 2022.

However, after years of scheduling delays, some relating to technical issues involving the harbour water circulation system, the site has finally reached Practical Completion. Now that Council has finally been handed over the keys, $122 Million later, the facility is ready to return to being a “buzzing community hub where everyone is welcome”.

“Where history meets the future of fitness, our facility stands as an iconic Art Deco landmark that’s been reimagined for today,” reads North Sydney Olympic Pool’s official website. “Fresh from a major facelift, it now blends timeless beauty with modern performance”.
