Sydney will be transformed into two free public live sites for Socceroos matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with screenings planned for Darling Harbour and Sydney Olympic Park.

The Minns Labor Government initiative will see Tumbalong Park at Darling Harbour and Cathy Freeman Park at Sydney Olympic Park host live broadcasts of every Socceroos match on giant screens. The Darling Harbour site will continue screening through to the quarter finals, semi-finals and final stages, while Sydney Olympic Park will host finals screenings if Australia progresses beyond the group stage. No tickets or registration will be required.

Group stage matches include Australia vs Türkiye on 14 June at 2pm, USA vs Australia on 20 June at 5am, and Paraguay vs Australia on 26 June at 12pm. Finals matches are scheduled at Tumbalong Park from 10 July through to 20 July, including quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final.

Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully said:

“NSW has a proud history of hosting world-class sporting events in our iconic public spaces, and we’re thrilled to be bringing the energy and excitement of the FIFA World Cup directly to the people of Sydney.

“From Darling Harbour to Western Sydney, these live sites will bring communities together to support the Socceroos and experience the atmosphere of the world’s biggest sporting event right here at home for free.

“This is exactly the kind of vibrant, world-class city the Minns Labor Government is building; one where people can come together and enjoy unforgettable experiences in our fantastic public spaces.”

Minister for Sport Steve Kamper said:

“There’s nothing quite like the FIFA World Cup. It’s the biggest sporting event on the planet, and when the Socceroos take the field, the entire country is going to be behind them.

“We want every football fan to have the chance to be part of that experience, whether you’re in the city at Darling Harbour or cheering alongside thousands of fans in Western Sydney.

“Football in Australia has never been bigger, especially after the incredible success of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and this is another chance for Sydney to show why we’re one of the great sporting cities of the world.”
