From the team at City Hub, we hope all our readers have a very festive and happy holidays.
As another year winds down, we wanted to pause — just for a moment — to say thank you. Truly. Every time you pick up a copy of our magazine from your local café or newsagent, every time you click through to one of our stories, send us a tip, or jump into the comments on our social media pages to discuss, it reminds us why we do this work. Local community media matters. And what we do together, as a city, matters.
City Hub exists because Sydney does — in all its beauty and brilliance. We care deeply about this city and the people who make it what it is, from students and artists; homeowners and renters; to small business owners, shopkeepers, workers and families. We work every day to serve Sydneysiders with stories that reflect your lives, your neighbourhoods, your struggles and your wins — the stories that don’t always make the headlines in national mainstream media, but shape our daily lives all the same.
This year, like many, has held moments of joy and moments of deep sadness. In the wake of the awful events Sydney has recently experienced, including the Bondi mass shooting, the importance of community has never felt clearer. Local media plays a role here too: helping us stay informed, connected, and grounded in facts rather than fear, and reminding us that compassion and solidarity still exist in abundance across this city.
Your support — whether it’s reading, sharing, tipping us off, or simply stopping to say hello — keeps independent journalism alive. It tells us that careful, community-focused reporting still very much has a place in Sydney.
So thank you for being part of our community, and for walking alongside us through another year.
We hope the weeks ahead bring you rest, warmth, and moments of connection. May your holiday season be filled with love, family and friends, and plenty of joy — however that looks for you.
Happy holidays, all.
The team at City Hub x
