Sticky Fingers Frontman Pleads Not Guilty To Shoplifting Roast Chicken & An Iced Coffee
Sticky Fingers frontman Dylan James Frost has been in the centre of an unusual incident, after allegedly stealing a roast chicken and an iced coffee from a supermarket in Sydney.
The lead singer was not required to attend Downing Centre Local Court on Monday after pleading not guilty to a charge of shoplifting.
Police allege that the musician stole a $6.50 roast chicken and a $2.65 Ice Break double espresso coffee from Woolworths Metro in Haymarket shortly after 1 PM on June 27.
Both Frost and his girlfriend, 23-year-old Elyssa Ford are alleged to have stolen items from a Sydney Woolworths store.
Ford is alleged to have taken a Life Savers raspberry stix from the same store.
The couple entered pleas of not guilty in August, with Ford facing a charge of shoplifting items valued under $2,000 and possession of a prohibited drug.
Representing Frost, lawyer Robert Candelori requested that the matter be set for a hearing in July 2025, where the controversial singer will defend the shoplifting allegation.
Sticky Fingers’ Frontman’s Controversial Incidents
The controversial Australian singer has been in the spotlight for several incidents, including one back in July 2016 when he attended a show by First Nations punk band Disposessed at the Red Rattler.
The guitarist for local band Disposessed posted on Facebook the night after their show at Red Rattler, accusing Sticky Fingers frontman Dylan Frost of directing racist taunts at them during the performance.
“I am not a monkey to play on command and we walked off stage when the lead singer of Sticky Fingers among many others began grossly shirt fronting us yelling that we are the ones not listening,” Dunn-Velasco wrote in a now-deleted post, according to The Music.
Thelma Plum Accuses Dylan James Frost of Racism
Another incident involving the Sticky Fingers frontman involved a confrontation outside the Lady Hampshire Pub in Camperdown in December that same year. Several accounts describe an altercation between Dylan Frost, Thelma Plum, and her then-boyfriend, triggered by Frost’s behaviour at the Disposessed gig.
Singer-songwriter Thelma Plum accused Frost of being violent towards her at the time in a now-deleted Facebook post, as reported by Music Feeds.
“There was an incident between Thelma Plum and Dylan from Sticky Fingers on Friday night which left Thelma feeling very shaken,” her statement read.
While specific details were not provided, Plum stated that the band’s “indefinite hiatus,” following the incident had “nothing to do with Thelma’s account of the incident and everything to do with Dylan’s actions.”
Following the incident Plum also took to her personal Facebook to say that Frost used his position as the lead singer of the band, “to get drunk, bully people and then is never held accountable for his actions because he’s ‘had a rough trot’ was super drunk,” Music Feeds reported.
Plum directed a message to the rest of the members in the band, stating, “Don’t play in a band with someone who has a history of violence towards women.”
“Taking responsibility for one’s actions had to happen, it’s up to them as a band and people to work towards a solution and Thelma won’t put any more emotional labor [sic] into this.”
Triple Whammy: Dylan Frost’s Accusations of Racism, Sexism, and Transphobia
Frost has faced accusations of racism, sexism, transphobia, and aggressive behaviour. In a 2018 interview with Triple J’s Hack, he responded to his past actions by saying, “boys will be boys.”
“I’ve made other people feel intimidated by me,” Frost admitted during his first interview since the band went on hiatus in late 2016.
“Fucking, boys will be boys you know? But that is not what I am here to promote, I promote, you know, peace and love,” he said.
Frost is scheduled to return to court next month.
