Australian Idol’s Royston Noell teams up with Guy Sebastian live

Off the back of his latest single “Dreaming,” Australian Idol 2023 winner Royston Noell announces his opening support for Australian musician Guy Sebastian’s upcoming XX Double Decade Celebration shows, at the Sydney Opera House this December.
A proud Thanakwith and Wagadagam man, Noell has proven his talent on and off the series. Crowned the winner in March of this year, he has continued to pursue his music perspective whilst showing his compelling vocals. In his debut single following the Idol, Noell makes it clear that he is ready to pursue this passion.
Growing up in Mapoon, a remote indigenous community in Queensland, Noell was always compelled to the performing opportunities from an urban environment. Moving to the bustling Brisbane City and studying a Bachelor of Music at the Queensland University of Technology, Noell’s songwriting continues to be inspired by his cultural and emotional connection to his local community.
The music video for “Dreaming” was filmed in his small hometown, with clips of Noell, his family and the calm seaside. Representing his personal attachment to the town, Noell sings about his hesitation of leaving to live out his dream. Despite his hesitation, the song built up to this bright piano and uplifting synth beat breaking through the verses and pre-chorus – a similar reflection to Noell’s anticipated return.
With the single coinciding with his announcement as opener, Noell says, “This moment literally reflects the sentiment of my new single.”
“I was speechless when I received this call and am honoured and grateful to be offered this moment to perform for Guy’s fans and hopefully some of my fans and supporters can also come join this celebration,” Noell continues.
“I am thrilled that Royston will perform for these two special shows at the Sydney Opera House next month,” says Sebastian. “He has the most beautiful heart, and I really wanted him to experience a moment with our fans in the most spectacular outdoor venue in Australia!”

Since competing on Australian Idol in 2003, With over 9 studio albums, receiving multiple industry awards, his tieless musicianship comes together for these upcoming performances. Set to perform his top hits, from “Battlescars,” to ARIA Song of the Year “Choir,” and his latest single “I Choose Good,” Sebastian’s XX Double Decade Celebration shows is a testament to his expansive and successful performing career.
