
Swim coach charged with child sexual abuse offenses from 1970s

A former swimming coach in South Sydney was charged today over the alleged sexual abuse of two young girls in the 1970s. Police arrested the 76-year-old man this morning from his home in Condell Park, after extensive inquiries into the alleged abuse were carried out by a strike team.
The man has been identified as Dick Caine, a former Olympic swimming coach who was said to be training the girls at a swim school in Carss Park at the time of the abuse.
“We will allege [Dick Caine] was the coach of the young girls at the time of the alleged offending,” Acting Superintendent Chris Nicholson said in a statement to the media.
Former swim coach charged with 9 offenses
Caine has been charged six counts of carnal knowledge teacher of girl aged 10-17, and the other three assault female and commit act of indecency, aged between 14-16. He was taken to Bankstown police station, and has been refused bail.
