Putting community back into politics

The inner west is famed for its array of vocal minorities, who have come together over a range of issues from development, to consultation and residents’ groups. ‘Talking Heads At Toxteth’ (THAT!) has brought ‘pub talks’ back to Glebe and this upcoming session promises much, with a panel featuring current Balmain state MP Verity Firth, Leichhardt Mayor Jamie Parker, and Alternative Media Group publisher, Lawrence Gibbons. There will be plenty of time for community discussion so community groups are “encouraged to send all their competent stirrers.”

This session of THAT! will be held on Friday, May 28, in the upstairs function room of the Toxteth Hotel, 345 Glebe Point Road, Glebe. Doors open at 6 for 6.30pm. Funds raised will go to help Leichhardt Friends of Hebron. Donations $10, or $5 for benefits recipients, full-time students, and the unwaged.
